AbstractMacroalgae-based products are increasing in demand also in Europe. In the European Union, each category of macroalgae-based products is regulated separately. We discuss EU legislation, including the law on medicinal products, foods including food supplements and food additives, feed and feed additives, cosmetics, packaging materials, fertilizers and biostimulants, as well as biofuels. Product safety and consumer protection are the priorities with any new products. Macroalgae products can be sold as traditional herbal medicines. The novel food regulation applies to macroalgae foods that have not previously been used as food, and organic macroalgae are a specific regulatory category. …
The internationalisation of the Spanish food industry: the home market effect and European market integration

<p>The objective of this study was to analyse, from a long-term perspective, the factors determining the process of the internationalisation of the Spanish agrifood industry. The paper concentrates on the empirical verification of the existence of a home market effect in the food and drink industries in Spain and on the effects on trade flows of integration into the European Union. With this aim in mind, we took into account the latest contributions to the estimation of the gravity equation for a sample of export flows from 13 agrifood subsectors between 1970 and 2012, with a destination of 175 markets. Comparative study of the North American Free Trade Agreement and the United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement: the compromised deal of the free trade

The main objective is to analyze two treaties – the old North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), to evidence the similarities and differences between two drafted agreements, and it aims to establish, what new issues shall be considered in drafting the Free Trade Agreements to establish mutually beneficial trade relationships with their trade nations. This thesis presents qualitative research, which to a major extent is based on the comparative historical analysis approach towards analyzing trade issues of NAFTA and the USMCA.
